It must have come from someone who didn't purchase the connectors. One thing I will mention, this unit while advertised as new had been sold before (I could tell by the packaging).
If you read the description it clearly states it is designed to use with Monster's connectors (which are extremely easy to use). In conjunction with these connectors, the unit works fine and I have had no problems.
I read several reviews on this product, and the biggest complaint was the connection of the wires to the rear. The choice is yours.
I have also not experienced any loss in sound by dividing the signal into multiple speakers. If you attempt to cut corners and do not purchase the proper connectors, you will hate this product and probably send it back.
The condition of the unit was fine and I experienced no problems because of it - so I didn't bother replacing it. :)
It only has one. Before buying this I downloaded the manufacturer's manual from their website [.]. The pictures show that this device has 2 left\right inputs, for your front and back channels. so be careful. So it's basically one-input to six-outputs, so it may be good for an old stereo but not for a home theatreI didn't even test it since it wasn't what I needed, so I can't judge the quality of the device.
The existing volume controls were non-impedance matching and I didn't perform any measurements, but two of these switches with 11 pairs of speakers enabled presented a manageable load to the 150wpc 2 channel amp allowing hours of continuous use without forcing the amp into thermal shut down. For non-critical, multi-room, single zone audio, these get the job done and are priced right. I installed two of these in a home where the previous owner took the amp and switches when they sold. I should also point out to others that these are impedance matching, not volume matching, they average out the electrical load placed on the amplifier. This is important because if you have different speakers with different sensitivities (dbl/wm), you will end up with different apparent audio levels in different rooms (I should have thought to explain that to this customer before hand).
this multi zone switch is a solid, easy to set up, easy to use switch. they may be a little pricey, but you pay for quality.
I'm no expert. But, from a common person's perspective, this speaker selector performs as Monster states. I'm running 4 pairs of different speakers (two pairs of 6x9's, two 5.25's, and two 4's) connected to a 250W 2 channel amp. The head unit is an Alpine CDE 9845.
